The journey
The cool basalt plateau behind the coast — pine-and-lake Đà Lạt, the coffee capital of Buôn Ma Thuột, and the volcanic crater lakes around Pleiku and Kon Tum, home to the central highlands' gong cultures.
The route
Pine hills, flower farms and colonial-era villas.
Coffee farms, Ê Đê longhouses and Dray Nur waterfall.
Biển Hồ crater lake and rolling tea-and-coffee country.
Bahnar stilt churches and the upper Đắk Bla river.

Safety
Pack a layer
At 1,500 m Đà Lạt stays cool year-round and cold at night — very different from the coast an hour away.
Waterfalls follow the rain
The big falls around Đà Lạt and Buôn Ma Thuột are fullest in the May–Oct wet season; dry-season flow is gentler.
Visit a working farm
Buôn Ma Thuột's smallholder coffee tours show the real bean-to-cup chain — most authentic outside the festival weeks.
