The Au Co Temple is located in Hien Luong Commune, Ha Hoa District, a special historical and cultural work, a symbol of patriotism and the tradition of national solidarity. The temple is associated with the worship of Au Co, becoming a beautiful feature in Vietnamese culture, a sacred symbol of the origin of Lac Hong descendants.
The Temple of Mother Au Co is the place to worship Mother Au Co. According to legend, on the 7th day of the first lunar month, the fairy Au Co descended to earth, married Lac Long Quan and gave birth to a sac of 100 eggs, which hatched into 100 sons. Au Co took her children up the mountain, stopped at Hien Luong, founded a village, taught people to reclaim land, grow crops and weave cloth.
On December 25, Mother Au Co and her flock of fairies flew to heaven, leaving behind a shimmering silk ribbon. The people of Hien Luong built a temple to express their gratitude to Mother Au Co for her great contributions. During the Later Le Dynasty, the temple was built on the scale it is today. In 1991, the temple was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic.
With its unique cultural and spiritual values, Mau Au Co Temple is oriented to become a prominent tourist destination in Phu Tho province. Every year, the temple welcomes about 70,000-80,000 visitors, contributing to promoting the image of the homeland and country in the integration period.
