The golden rice season in Tam Coc - Bich Dong, Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh usually starts from the end of May to the beginning of June every year. This year, due to the weather, the rice may ripen later. Let's explore the beauty of the golden season in Tam Coc - Bich Dong, Vietnam with iGuide.ai!
Tam Coc is 110 km from Hanoi city center, taking about 1.5 hours to drive. Visitors can travel by car from Hanoi center, via Hanoi - Ninh Binh - DT491C highway to Tam Coc. Along the way, there is Xuan Khiem rest stop with a large, clean area, restaurants and cafes. If choosing to go by motorbike, the fastest route is via National Highway 1A from Giai Phong through Phu Ly, Ha Nam, to Tam Coc. For public transport, limousine is the most convenient option with a ticket price of about 170,000 - 200,000 VND one way, picking up and dropping off passengers right at Tam Coc boat station.
After arriving at the boat dock, visitors buy tickets to visit Tam Coc - Bich Dong for 120,000 VND for adults and 60,000 VND for children. At the dock, there is also an electric car service to pick up and drop off cars and motorbikes. Visitors will be taken by boat rowed by a person, not a motorboat, for 150,000 VND per trip, with a maximum of 4 adults. The boatmen will introduce the Ngo Dong River and the name Tam Coc. Visitors will see the winding river with limestone mountains on both sides, green and hear the gentle sound of oars splashing water.
The most special feature of Tam Coc in the ripe rice season is the rice fields on both sides of the river starting to turn golden yellow, looking like golden silk standing out on the clear blue water. People here use the alluvial soil of the river to plant rice seedlings, the base of the rice plants are submerged in water, creating soft fields embracing the river. These fields were formed from the process of land reclamation and labor since the 10th century AD.
In about 2 hours, the boat will take visitors through Hang Ca, Hang Hai and Hang Ba. Hang Ca is the largest with a length of about 127 m, inside there are places up to 20 m high with stalactites of many shapes. Around Tam Coc wharf, there are many attractive tourist spots such as Thai Vi temple, Thien Huong cave and especially Bich Dong - known by the ancients as "Nam Thien De Nhi Dong", the second most beautiful cave in the South after Huong Tich cave.
In the afternoon, after lunch and a rest, visitors can go to Trang An Eco-tourism Area about 10 km away. On the way, you will encounter beautiful ripe rice fields and Bodhi trees. Trang An has an ancient limestone mountain range system with a geological age of about 250 million years, forming hundreds of valleys, caves and lakes. Unlike Tam Coc, Trang An is larger and more diverse in landscape, although it does not have golden rice fields.
The ticket price to visit Trang An is 250,000 VND for adults and 120,000 VND for children, including the boat tour. There are three routes for you to choose from, the most popular experience is route three with the journey of offering incense to Trinh Temple - Hang May - Suoi Tien - Hang Dia Linh - Hang Dai - Hanh Cung Vu Lam - Kong film set. Sao Khe River flows through Trang An, clear and blue, you can see moss below, especially on sunny days.
At the end of the day, you should return to Ninh Binh City for dinner and visit Hoa Lu ancient town at Ky Lan Park. The area recreates traditional craft villages of Ninh Binh and other localities with many handicraft stalls and colorful lanterns. Here, you can also enjoy the riverside scenery through the experience of sitting on a boat for 80,000 VND one way.
The next morning, the suggested destination is Mua Cave, located about 10 km from the city center.
