Piloting tourist submarine in Nha Trang Bay

The Prime Minister agreed in principle to pilot the tourist diving service in Nha Trang Bay of Vinpearl Joint Stock Company on October 30, 2020. The pilot period is 02 years from the date the service started operating, but due to the pandemic, it has been extended longer than expected.

During the pilot, units regularly inspect and control the operation of vehicles and other supporting activities to ensure absolute safety. The Ministry of Transport presides over and coordinates with the Ministry of National Defense, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee and relevant units to agree on the scope of operations, rescue plans and management organization; ensure security and safety for tourists; protect the environment, preserve and restore ecosystems in Nha Trang Bay. The Ministry of Transport studies, reviews and supplements legal regulations on submarine operations to suit reality, and reports to the Prime Minister.

According to the Department of Transport of Nha Trang City, diving tourism will be a new and unique product contributing to the development of local tourism. The operation plan has little impact on the current state of the natural environment, because there is no fixed wharf and the operating area does not affect waterway and maritime traffic, and is a strictly protected area of Nha Trang Bay.

The Nha Trang Bay submersible is expected to be the Deepview 24 of Triton Submarines, Vinpearl Joint Stock Company, contributing to the success of the "Five Deeps" expedition of 11 diving experts to the deepest bottoms of the 5 oceans. The ship can dive to a depth of nearly 100 m, with a capacity of 24 passengers.
