King Dinh Tien Hoang Temple is an ancient temple with more than 100 years old, located in the relic complex of the ancient capital Hoa Lu, Ninh Binh, Vietnam. This is the only place in Vietnam to worship King Dinh Tien Hoang, his parents, his sons and commemorate the generals of the Dinh Dynasty.

King Dinh Temple was built in the 17th century and is located in the historical relics of the ancient capital Hoa Lu and is ranked in the Top 100 famous 100-year-old structures in Vietnam. Legend has it that in ancient times, King Dinh and his son Dinh Lien were murdered by Do Thich in 979. According to the royal court's ritual, they were given posthumous titles and titles and a temple was built to worship them right in their hometown.
Therefore, King Dinh Temple was established long ago. Until now, the remaining part of the temple has the architectural style of the Nguyen Dynasty. In his hometown today, there are still many places and legends associated with the childhood of the king as well as Nguyen Bac, Dinh Dien, famous generals from the same hometown as King Dinh Tien Hoang.
The temple was built in the style of Noi Cong Ngoai Quoc (a type of temple with two long corridors connecting the front hall in the front with the back hall in the back), forming a rectangular frame surrounding the incense burning house, the upper hall and the architectural works in the middle. The temple was built in the shape of the letter Cong (工) on the inside, with a surrounding frame on the outside like the radical Vi (口) surrounding the outside like the character Quoc (國).
King Dinh Temple was built in a symmetrical style on the sacred axis. It starts from the crescent lake and ends at the main hall. Going in from the outside, you will encounter the outer gate called Ngo Mon Quan. There you will see four Chinese characters “Bac Mon Toa Thuoc Duoc” written on the gate’s foundation. Going through the gate, looking back, you will see four other Chinese characters “Tien Trieu Phuong Cac”. In front of the temple is the crescent lake built in the ancient royal architectural style and filled with beautiful lotus flowers.
The temple to worship King Dinh Tien Hoang consists of 3 main buildings: Bai Duong, Thieu Huong and Chinh Cung. In front of the middle room of the worshiping hall right on the dragon yard is a dragon bed made from a single block of green stone combined with extremely delicate carvings with unique and valuable patterns.
This is considered a valuable gift left by the famous people of the Dinh Dynasty, at the same time showing their talent and artistic talent. From Bai Duong, you will see the Thieu Huong building, then you will see the Main Palace, which has 5 rooms in total, the middle room is the statue of King Dinh Tien Hoang. The statue is painted red and gilded, wearing a Binh Thien hat, sitting on a stone bed with a very majestic appearance. Next to it are statues of the king's children.
There is a stone incense burner placed on a monolithic stone pedestal at the head of the dragon courtyard. Behind the incense burner is a stone dragon bed with a relief surface and surrounding walls 1.8m long and 1.4m wide. On both sides of the dragon bed are two stone unicorns and are carved on two monolithic green stone blocks. The surface of the dragon bed is carved with a unique image in Vietnamese history, which is a dragon with a woman's hand. Behind the dragon bed is the shrine of King Dinh Tien Hoang, including Bai Duong, Thieu Huong and Chinh Cung. The right side worships the statues of Crown Prince Hang Lang and Dinh Toan, the two second sons of King Dinh.
From the dragon yard, you step up to the main temple area. Behind the main temple area is the place to worship King Dinh's father and mother, a house with 5 rooms. Unique artistic wood carvings in the worship hall. King Dinh Tien Hoang's temple also has stone statues that are considered the standard for creating Vietnamese mascots.
