On September 6, Mr. Hoang Trong Duc, Chairman of Truong Son Commune, Quang Ninh District, said that the new cave is temporarily called Son Nu by the locals. The cave is more than 1.5 km long with many beautiful stalactites and was recently discovered in the protective forest of Quang Ninh District, in the middle of Truong Son Forest.
Locals said the cave is over 1.5 km long and is located in Diu Do village, in sub-area 549 managed by the Quang Ninh District Forest Protection Management Board. The cave has many stalactites, clear water, and you can row a boat from one end to the other.
Water from the cave flows into Khe May stream located in the middle of the primeval forest of the Truong Son mountain range. "To reach Son Nu cave, you have to walk about 1.5 km from the commune center, then spend about an hour crossing a rocky road," said Mr. Duc. The commune government is making a report on the new cave to send to all levels. The water in the cave is clear and can be rowed.
Mr. Duc hopes that in the future, this cave will be exploited as a tourist destination, creating more jobs for the Van Kieu people.
Due to its seamless limestone mountains with few faults, Quang Binh is known as the "Kingdom of Caves" with more than 500 caves discovered, concentrated in Bo Trach and Tuyen Hoa districts. About 40 caves have been put into tourism exploitation, including Son Doong, En and Pigmy, the first, second and fourth largest caves in the world, respectively.
