The 3rd Ho Chi Minh City International Music Festival – HOZO 2023 is organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Major Holiday Organizing Committee, and jointly implemented by the Ho Chi Minh City Light Music Center and Beyond Entertainment Company. With the theme “From Ho Chi Minh City with love,” this year’s festival aims to bridge the gap between traditional and modern music, contributing to the preservation and promotion of music and national culture around the world.
According to the organizers, the 2023 festival will be different from previous ones. The event will kick off in early September and continue until the end of December. In addition to four shows called HOZO Inspired Talent taking place from September to November at Lam Son Park (District 1), the "super festival" HOZO Super Fest, which will be held later this year on Nguyen Hue walking street, has also received a lot of attention.
Musician Huy Tuan – General Director of the program said that HOZO 2023 will be a place where unique art performances that meet international standards converge. The musician hopes that the event will integrate Vietnamese music with the world music scene, help preserve and promote cultural and musical values, as well as bring music closer to local people. Maintaining the core spirit of a music program, HOZO Super Fest this year will continue to “play” live music, singers will sing live and each performance on stage will last about 45 minutes.
HOZO Super Fest takes place over three nights from December 22-24, 2023 on Nguyen Hue walking street and Le Loi street, promising to "explode" with diverse art performances combining EDM, Rock to RAP Jazz, Pop and traditional music from famous domestic and foreign artists. R&B legend Babyface performed on the HOZO 2022 stage. As a ticketless festival, the program's organizers hope that HOZO Super Fest will have a solid "position" in the global music festival scene, not only leaving an impression on Vietnamese audiences but also touching the hearts of international tourists who love music. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City expressed her hope that HOZO will develop into an annual music festival, imbued with the rich cultural colors of Vietnam. Not only that, the organizers also bring equally attractive sideline activities such as HOZO University Tour, Music Video Theme Song, as well as online and offline Workshops revolving around the music field.
It can be said that HOZO is a "super project" consisting of a series of unique events, contributing to building a multi-platform music playground and increasing the strength of the community of music and culture lovers in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and in Vietnam in general. The Vietnamese artists participating in HOZO Super Fest 2023 are all talented names and possess unique and diverse musical colors. Among them, Xuan Dan (rapper Binz) - who is "causing a fever" among the people with his impressive "transformation" in appearance recently, will be one of the people appearing at the first performance night of HOZO Super Fest. Besides, the HOZO Super Fest 2023 stage also welcomes other domestic names such as: "dance music queen" Thu Minh, singer Van Mai Huong, new generation "digital music prince" Grey D, My Anh ft. Vu Thao My, the bands Chillies, Da LAB and Vortexx. The audience not only enjoyed the vibrant music from DJ Hoaprox, DJ Vinjaz ft. MC Goku, but also immersed themselves in the wonderful melodious sounds brought by the semi-classical Saigon Pops Orchestra.
Vietnam is gradually becoming a favorite destination for world artists, as evidenced by the arrival of famous foreign artists at recent major music events. This is both a good sign because the audience has the opportunity to experience the stage with the most advanced technology, and a challenge for the organizers in innovating and raising the program standards to international standards. Coming to HOZO Super Fest this year, the audience will enjoy performances by artists from Western markets such as France, Belgium, Spain and neighboring Asian countries. On the second night, Tempest - a multi-talented seven-member Korean idol group will rock the HOZO stage. The lineup includes Hanbin, Hyeongseop, Hyuk, Eunchan, Lew, Hwarang and Taerae; in which the "piece" Hanbin especially attracts the attention of the audience because he is an idol from Vietnam. Despite being a rookie group that has only been on the scene for over a year, Tempest has continuously achieved success with wins at prestigious music awards ceremonies in Korea.
Not stopping there, the organizers also "played big" by inviting the famous Dutch DJ and music producer - Don Diablo, ready to create an "earthquake" on the HOZO Super Fest stage this year. Known as the "king" of Future House music, Don Diablo is a factor that contributes to creating excitement at major music festivals around the world such as Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland, etc. In addition, during the three nights of HOZO Super Fest, the audience also has the opportunity to meet other potential names such as: Singaporean singer and musician Charlie Lim, Indonesian pop band Good Morning Everyone, Vietnamese rock band in Japan - Kurrock, five-member Spanish band El Pony Pisador, Otyken - a native Siberian band (Russia), and DJ Minji from the United States.
It can be seen that the organizers have invested a lot in HOZO Super Fest to bring the most complete experience to the audience with multi-genre music, multi-ethnic guests and multi-stage performances. Here, all music enthusiasts of all generations and all professions can connect with each other, together creating a diverse, open and civilized cultural space.
