For a long time, coffee has become an indispensable part of the daily life of Vietnamese people. The French brought coffee to Vietnam in the 80s of the 19th century and gradually created a Vietnamese coffee culture that is difficult to confuse.

Coffee and Vietnamese people

Coffee enters the hearts of Vietnamese people in a very gentle and tender way. The bitter taste on the tip of the tongue, the sweet aroma of a hot cup of coffee makes us ecstatic. Vietnamese people can enjoy coffee at any time, when working, resting, meeting friends or when their hearts are empty. Therefore, coffee can appear anywhere and at any time. Just like that, coffee has contributed a significant part in the life and work of each person.

Vietnamese coffee drinking style

Vietnamese coffee culture is extremely unique. From drinking coffee, there is a very unique style, they consider coffee as a drink to enjoy, not a fast drink, with the effect of preventing sleepiness like Western countries. We sit next to a cup of coffee, sip, think and sip small sips. While reading the newspaper, listening to music, chatting with friends, with business partners or sitting at work and also to contemplate life, people revolve around a cup of coffee.

Traditional Vietnamese way of making coffee

Vietnamese coffee is usually brewed in the French style, that is, using a filter. People pour boiling water, then sit and wait for the coffee to expand and absorb the water, then filter each drop, which is very special. Making a cup of coffee does not take much effort, but it does take time. Sitting and watching each black drop fall is a hobby of coffee lovers. Especially on rainy days, going out on the porch to watch the rain and watching each drop of coffee fall, feels so "chill", it makes our hearts feel light and strangely peaceful.

Coffee preferences by region and age

Vietnamese people's taste for coffee is usually strong, bitter, with the aroma of almonds and earth. Depending on the region and age, the way of enjoying coffee also changes and does not follow a certain standard. For example, people in the South often wrap coffee in a cloth and cook it in a pot, they prefer to drink iced coffee rather than hot coffee. As for people in the North, most of them like to drink filter coffee, black or brown, but all must be strong. Some people like a cup of pre-brewed iced brown coffee that is thick and sweet, some people are only passionate about the drops of coffee slowly falling from an old filter, and some people like to drink espresso coffee made by machine as a "wake-up" medicine.

The effects of coffee in daily life

Coffee is not only delicious but also has many uses in the daily life of Vietnamese people. It is not simply a refreshing drink, but also helps people stay awake and relax after tiring hours of studying and working. With the active ingredient caffeine, coffee stimulates brain activity, helping people to be more alert and focused. In addition, it also increases the speed of thinking and creativity, making work efficiency better. For that reason, many companies have prepared coffee machines for their employees, in the office coffee has gradually become a popular drink and a unique cultural feature worth preserving in Vietnam.

Development and innovation in Vietnamese coffee culture

Nowadays, with the development of social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Google, ..., Vietnamese coffee culture helps people enjoy both taste and sight. With a curious and eager-to-learn personality, Vietnamese coffee now has many new types, not just simply black coffee or iced milk coffee like in the past. New brewing methods such as Chemex, Aeropress, Kalita ... The trend of enjoying cold coffee such as "Iced drip" or "Nitro cold brew" is very suitable for the hot and humid weather in Vietnam. If in the past, everyone could easily make a cup of coffee for themselves, now coffee has reached a new level, making coffee is an art. Although unique, the old culture of Vietnamese coffee has not faded.

Competition and development of Vietnamese coffee brands

In recent years, there has been a fierce competition between domestic and foreign coffee chains. The presence of many large coffee brands is showing the attractiveness of the Vietnamese coffee market. Hopefully, Vietnamese coffee culture will last over time. Classic Coffee as well as many Vietnamese coffee brands are developing every day to preserve and introduce that culture to all territories.
